At the time I first published these essays, those who peered through the thin veneer of the dominant narrative on COVID to see that it was driven by politics, not science, were ridiculed. I was among them, but more notably solid research scientists in fields like epidemiology and virology, even those who had won the Nobel Prize in their field, were also ridiculed, belittled, publicly disavowed, and banned on social media.
But, we were right. Now, two professors from Princeton University, Frances Lee and Stephen Macedo, have written a book entitled, In Covid's Wake: How Our Politics Failed Us. In it, they note how "the decisions that were made in the early going of the pandemic departed from conventional wisdom about how to handle a pandemic and violated recommendations that had been put on paper in calmer times about how a crisis like this should be handled." Yes, exactly what we said, back in 2020! They also noted that most of the measures that were implemented so rigorously lacked any scientific basis and then posit the question, "Where were the academics?" Hello! We were here sounding the alarm, but were ignored, cancelled, and banned on social media.
May this be a lesson on the importance of free speech and the right to dissent from government and tech enforced narratives.
